Working For Change
Why do we all periodically and at times frequently, spend our time seemingly dedicated to the act of judging, evaluating, indicating or pointing out the infirmities of others? Somehow we profess to know exactly the changes others need to make, the wrinkles in their cloth or the flaws in their character.
Problem #1
The reality of the situation is they will never eliminate those weaknesses that you have so ably discovered until they realize there is a need to do so! The fact of the matter is;”change is an inside job!”
Problem #2
You will never get people to acknowledge or accept the wrinkles that you have pointed out in them, when you are standing there all wrinkled yourself! The flaws that you have noticed in their character will never be embraced because of the massive cracks in your character.
The answer to this dilemma is simple; shift the focus of your energy and the allocation of your time to self discovery! Determining yourself to find the things in you that really need changing, adjusting or eliminating is a more admirable work. The results of this mission are much more controllable and far more predictable, not to mention, someone is watching and waiting for you to make those changes! (Hmmm)
The world is in need of selfless, socially centered, solution oriented LEADERSHIP! But, just as important is the need for committed, focused followership. If society is ever to make its much needed changes, it will require that every individual commit to make their changes. The social problems and issues are only the results of the collective issues of those who make up society.
If any social entity is to ever exemplify its fullest potential in productivity and socialization, it will require the full participation of its constituents. “Change is the mother’s milk for the growth of all mankind.” If you change, then someone will notice it and believe that their change is possible!
If you can change you, then we can change the World!
Make the "I Will Change Commitment"
The Nehemiah Project
When it comes to growth, to progress, to change, every human being needs to accept that they have something or somethings that require addressing. Since we all can agree that no one is perfect, we can at least begin the process of determining where we are imperfect. Though we will never be able to repair all of our imperfections, there are many that we can with desire and commitment; eliminate, adjust or infuse out of or into our lives. We must all know within our hearts that repair is possible and that change is necessary. Some have allowed themselves to believe that they are too young or too old, too poor or too wealthy, or even have gender restrictions. With that, what is the Nehemiah Project?
Once Nehemiah (A Biblical personality) had returned to Jerusalem and taken the time to survey the damage, realizing the entire wall was broken down and the Gates had been burned, he called a meeting. After indicating the grace of God on him and acknowledging authorization from the authorities to pursue restoration, together they said “Let’s start rebuilding.” (Neh. 2:18)
Immediately the work began to rebuild the walls and gates or to secure their society to its original position of strength and fortitude. This same restoration is needed in our present day society, but its success is dependent upon the participation of all. With Nehemiah’s project, no one excluded themselves from the work! Everyone agreed to repair the wall that was in front of their home. (Neh. 3:10, their house; Neh. 3:12, their district; Neh. 3:12, with their daughters; Neh.3:29, in front of their apt. or room. Everyone did their part in bringing about change for the benefit of all. Nehemiah’s wall was rebuilt and restored, good for them. Will you join us and rebuild the wall where you live? Take the 1st step and make the “I Will Change” commitment. Be a part of the Nehemiah Project, today!
